CIEH Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety

Overview

This qualification is designed for anyone working in a catering, manufacturing or retail setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled. It equates to a 'basic' or 'foundation' qualification. This qualification is also suitable for anyone wishing to gain a general appreciation of food safety.

Course Content

The training program lasts around 6 hours and covers the following topics:

Food safety and hygiene hazards
Temperature control
Refrigeration, chilling and cold holding
Cooking, hot holding and reheating
Food handling
Principles of safe food storage
Cleaning
Food premises and equipment

Assessment method

30 multiple choice question examination, 60 minutes long. Candidates need 20 correct answers to pass the course.

Certificate

Exam papers are marked by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and certificates are issued within around 6 weeks of taking the course. RS Food Hygiene will then either hand deliver or post (by Royal Mail Recorded Delivery) the Certificate to you.
